                                                            Crazy Hair day!!!!!!

Very often on a regular basis, I get questions with help for costumes for parties. I have owned an entertainment company for 14 years that has elaborate costumes, of course, I should know how to put together a perfect costume in 10 min well that is what people may think. I normally hear people say I am not crafty; I can't sew and just not creative. Well, I use to say that about myself, but it's pretty amazing what we moms can pull out of our hat when needed. Today was a great example. It's been a long week, and I had been sick and that type of sick that levels you in bed where you can't get anything done. I think this hits me like once every 5 years. In fact, this morning when I came down the kitchen and my husband said: “my wife is back.”

So this morning about half way through getting kids ready my daughter ask what day it is? I say Friday and she said it's crazy hair day! I think crud I've got like maybe 10 min to put something together and still have time to get lunches ready and them breakfast. So I happen to have seen a cute spider hairdo on Facebook the other day and off I go running. Downstairs to craft bag and then to my colored hairspray and off to find bobby pins and rubber bands. I return back up stair sweaty and breathing a little heavy (don’t judge I am still getting over being sick I am not that out of shape). And I knew I didn’t have time to make it perfect but away I went hair into a bun, twisty legs stuck into a bun. I sprayed the head of spider, poke holes for eyes, unfortunately, can't find any googly eyes, so I make it work. Then spray color into hair and then how the heck do I get the spider to stay? Oh, bobby pins I say! And boom bam messy spider hair.

No it was not perfect Pinterest looking by any means, and Martha Steward would have probably gagged, but it was all mommy created with sweat, paint, and love. So a momy win, Abby loved it and pretty sure she has the most elaborate hair out of anyone.Remember kids don’t need Pinterest perfect things even though I love Pinterest don’t get me wrong, they just need you loving them and trying your best, they will always have those memories and someday be doing the same thing with their kids.

Simple but Elegant

I have always been a simple person who enjoys the simplicity of things but likes a little elegance added into the picture. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to help out with a last min wedding that was on the beach. I only had two days to pull together some ideas. I had tables, linens, chairs but how do I spice this up it was right on the ocean so the decoration was the beautiful sunset and water but we were outside in the dark. I had seen a event with drift wood on the table but couldn't find enough in time. So I pulled out my glass bowls, candles, and shells there was not much color but once again it was going to be at night so simple and elegant was my thought! Remember more is not always better sometimes less is more and it was perfect! See pics below on how we transformed a simple party into an elegant one.

Fourth of July!

Its right around the corner fun 4th of July parties that we love. For those of you trying to find some fun easy inexpensive tips on how to make your party fun I have a few. My sister is currently working on a project that she will help me with when she comes so I am using her pict below of what she has done. You go and pick up a pallet probably behind any grocery store and bring it home and start painting. Now on this board she is going to put the stars on next but its a super cute way to upcyle old wood and have some fun decorations. Keep your eyes open for more fun projects. You can use the same thing to paint anything you want for party's and holiday events. Get creative!!!!!!!

Fun activites for summer

Creating fun for your kids when you have no money!
I grew up in what I consider an average middle class home.  We always had enough money for our basic needs but if we wanted to do something costly usually we had to improvise and my mother was so great at that. She could come up with some of the most fun an inexpensive fun things to keep us entertained and yes this was before pinterest. I thought would share some of my favorite old school memories that might help you as summer approaches, and you want to have some fun free to cheap stuff to do at home with the kids. One of the easiest and cheapest things to do was make playdough. Most families have these ingredients at home. My mom would let me stand on a chair and put in the ingredients, and she would usually stir cause you are using low heat, and then I got to mash it all together when it was done. Lots of fun and then she would just bring out cookie cutters, and we have like 2 hours of just playing with playdough
Basic ingredient ratios:
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
food coloring (liquid, powder, or unsweetened drink mix)
scented oils
Mix all of the ingredients together, and stir over low heat. The dough will begin to thicken until it resembles mashed potatoes.

When the dough pulls away from the sides and clumps in the center, as shown below, remove the pan from heat and allow the dough to cool enough to handle.

Planting experiment
When buying some seeds in the stores you can usually get them as cheap as a dollar to a couple bucks. You can always buy a flat of Mason jars for as well very cheap at Wal-mart. We would go and fill our jars with dirt plant the seeds, water and then often we would also paint our jars so we had colorful jars that we would watch and wait to see our little plants grow.

Colored Rocks
More then likely you have plenty of rocks in your back yard or at least close by. Another fun simple and easy thing to do with your kids is coloring rocks. It sounds simple but kids love to paint and what I do is we put the collared rocks in the garden next to plants. The kids loved it. All you need is some paints and some rocks and your creative imagination to do this fun activity.

Garden Partys

Often times when we think about parties we think we can only have them when someone has a birthday or a holiday. But you can have a party any time. Spring it here and Garden parties are lots of fun but how about the non-traditional Garden party with you kids. Instead of big hats and tea and cookies. The other day I decided to do a Garden party with my kids. The one where we plant flowers, get dirty, muddy and wet to get our spring flowers going. So have a fun Garden party with your kids no need for a special occasion just enjoy the weather.
